North East

The North East Family Arts Network

From Northumberland in the north to the Tees Valley in the south, we support the region’s culture sector to broaden family audiences and ensure their offer is led by the needs of diverse families.

Established in 2013, we provide training, share best practice and connect with families through the innovative Family Explorers North East digital project.

Our vision: The cultural sector thrives and all North East families’ lives are enriched by superb arts and culture.

Members

Our members represent a breadth of cultural genres including museums, galleries, performance venues and festivals.

If you are interested in joining us, please get in touch. We’d love to hear from you.

Our network offers members:

  • Training and discussion on achieving a truly family friendly, inclusive offer
  • Collaborations and connections with organisations who can help us all achieve our vision
  • The opportunity to reach thousands of families through Family Explorers North East
  • A regular newsletter sharing tips for engaging diverse families

Family Explorers North East

Family Explorers North East is a digital project set up in response to research establishing the support families in our region needed to try new cultural venues and genres.

We host a Facebook Group community where thousands of families go to recommend events and ask their peers questions.

We gather feedback from these families and post event recommendations from the members of our network, all of whom have committed to the Family Arts Standards.

Families also receive a regular e-newsletter and use venue listings on our website.
