Get Creative Family Arts Festival 2015 Award Winners Announced!

13 organisations across the UK have won awards for their outstanding contribution to the 2015 Get Creative Family Arts Festival

The Get Creative Family Arts Festival Awards took place last week at The Albany, Deptford and celebrated arts organisations that excelled in the categories of Best Family Event, Best Family Venue and Best Family Welcome during last year’s Festival.

Voted for by a panel of expert judges from the arts sector, the Awards recognise the outstanding events that took place within 2015 Festival and the organisations and venues that participated.

And the Winners are…

Best Family Event:

  • The Lowry: Lego & Live Music, with BBC Philharmonic and Legoland
  • Upswing: Bedtime Stories
  • Sinfonia Viva: The Boat & The Blue
  • Akram Khan: Chotto Desh
  • Busy Parents Network: The Big Draw, with Barber Institute of Fine Arts
  • National Theatre of Scotland: Dragon, with Vox Motus and Tianjin People’s Arts Theatre

Best Family Venue:

  • Seven Stories, National Centre for Children’s Books
  • Z-arts
  • St Georges Bristol

Best Family Welcome:

  • Seven Stories, National Centre for Children’s Books
  • Celtic Harmony

Audience Choice Awards

  • Best Family Event: Big Fish Little Fish Productions – Family Rave
  • Best Family Venue: Lyric Hammersmith
  • Best Family Welcome: Wizard Presents – I Believe in Unicorns

Highly Commended Organisations

  • Family Venues: Déda Derby, Wiltshire Music Centre, mac birmingham
  • Family Welcomes: Orchestras Live with City of London Sinfonia, Performances Birmingham Ltd, The Courtyard Herefordshire’s Centre for the Arts
  • Family Events: balletLORENT: Snow White, Dance Umbrella & The Egg Theatre Royal Bath: 16 Singers, BCMG: Family Music Maze, Thelma Hulbert Gallery: Harrison’s Garden Halloween Spectacular

Over 800 organisations took part in the 2015 festival, which took place between 9 October and 1 November.  Around 500,000 family members attended one of the 4,000 festival events across the UK.
