Museums, galleries and theatres are the perfect place for babies to be filled with wonder. They are the perfect place for parents, relatives and carers to discover new things with their babies. The Babies in Museums workshop will help you to think about your venue in a new way and show you how to play with a new audience.

Who is it for and what will they get from attending?

–       Your participation team: The workshop can challenge the thinking of your learning and participation team to create workshops and experiences specifically for babies and toddlers

–        Your marketing team: It’s great to create these perfect baby friendly environments but you’ll also need to think about how to tell people about it. Challenge the stereotypes of “baby marketing” and create a new approach

–       Your FOH staff: Play sessions are only one part of welcoming babies and their grown-ups into your venue. Help your FOH staff to understand how valuable families are to you, how to talk to them and have fun with them

–       Your senior managers: How often do coordinators come back from a training day full of ideas and inspiration, only to stumble at decision-making time? Your senior decision makers can come back from Babies in Museums ready to make some fast changes

–       Your volunteers: Your volunteers are the face of your organisation. Help to build their understanding and they’ll make sure people keep coming back.

–       Babies in Museums is a day-long workshop that focuses on babies and their families. You will hear from experts, witness baby workshops in action, and play with baby-specific learning tools. You will hear about how to create baby workshop ideas that tie in with your exhibitions and events and build ideas about how to include your whole venue and not hide children away.
