What is the Campaign about?

The Family Arts Campaign is a national Sector Support Organisation funded by Arts Council England and the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation to raise family engagement with arts and culture.

Since our beginnings in 2012, we have focused on three main areas of work:

  • Increasing the amount and range of artistic work available to families
  • Increasing the quality of experience for families
  • Improving marketing to reach more families

We are here to support National Portfolio Organisations, museums, libraries, community groups, individuals, and anyone else looking to better connect families with arts and culture.

You can take part by signing up to the free Family Arts Standards and Age-Friendly Standards quality-marks, by attending training and events, or accessing our online resources library. You can also promote all of your family and age-friendly events for free as part of our Fantastic for Families  campaign.


Who is running the Campaign?

We are a cross-sector and cross-artform initiative steered by a consortium of ten organisations and trade bodies. Our lead partner organisation is The Albany.

Fantastic for Families Awards 2021

The Fantastic for Families Awards celebrate the wealth of outstanding creative provision for families across the UK.

This year’s awards will celebrate the extraordinary creativity and resilience that the cultural sector has shown during the global pandemic.

In the last year, we have experienced huge challenges to develop and deliver creative experiences and content for families. Despite this, cultural providers have adapted their work to create fantastic activities, resources and programmes for families of all backgrounds.

We also want to celebrate the remarkable efforts to continue to support older generations with creative and social opportunities during the pandemic – we are awarding an Age-Friendly Outreach award to recognise the particular work developed in this area.

Whether you are a venue who has translated your work to socially distanced/outdoor settings, a producer who has developed online content, or an artist who has created packs or resources for families in need, we want to hear from you!

Entries will be judged by an expert panel drawn from the Family Arts Campaign Consortium. Awards will be presented in an online ceremony as part of the 2021 Family Arts Campaign Conference which will take place in Autumn 2021.

Who can apply?

Application is by self-nomination. Applications are open to any UK-based cultural organisation or cultural activity organiser operating during the 2020/21 pandemic between March 2020 – April 2021. Awards will recognise activities/events/initiatives that took place during this period

To be eligible for an Award, your organisation must have first signed up to the Family Arts Standards and/or the Age-Friendly Standards. Please follow the links for information on how to register.

Your organisation should also be using fantasticforfamilies.com to promote any family-focused activities/events.

The categories

Awards will be given in the following categories.

  • Best Family Arts Activity
  • Best Age-Friendly Outreach
  • Audience Impact and Innovation Award

Full criteria for each award is detailed in the application form, along with further information about the application process.

You can apply for more than one category if you wish, but each organisation or individual may only submit one entry per category.
